Michela Taufer, an ACM Distinguished Scientist, holds the prestigious Jack Dongarra Professorship in High Performance Computing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She completed her undergraduate studies in computer engineering at the University of Padova, Italy, and obtained her PhD in computer science from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Her postdoctoral fellowship at UC San Diego and The Scripps Research Institute focused on bridging computer systems and computational chemistry.

Her research interests lie in scientific applications on heterogeneous platforms, AI for cyberinfrastructures, and integrating AI into scientific workflows, with an emphasis on reusability, reproducibility, and trustworthiness. She is a leader in several NSF projects and is committed to advancing AI in computer simulations and data engineering. Michela is also dedicated to mentoring diverse students in interdisciplinary research and promoting high-performance computing in undergraduate education, aiming to broaden participation in these fields.
