Leonardo Sala holds a masters degree in Physics and a PhD in Particle and Astroparticle physics. He worked for the CMS collaboration at CERN until 2012, spending his time analyzing large datasets in search of rare events, and supporting the scientists in a variety of IT tasks. He joined PSI in 2012 with the task of designing the experimental IT infrastructure of the flagship SwissFEL free electron laser facility, and in 2018 he took the lead of the High Performance Computing group, renamed Data analysis and Research infrastructure in 2021. He is also currently serving as Deputy Head of the Science IT Department at PSI.
